A Saturday Walk & Birding

Yesterday, my wife and I took the opportunity to take a nice walk into the local park where we sat on a bench overlooking the countryside for probably 30-45 minutes. It was absolutely beautiful, warm but not hot with a nice cool breeze.

I recently purchased a new gimbal head (my first) for my tripos and I was keen to give it a try. So, we sat on the bench, enjoying the weather, and I snapped a few shots of birds in flight (and some not in flight as well). I really enjoyed using the gimbal head. My camera with the telephoto lens can get quite heavy after a while, and being able to smoothly move the camera without arm fatigue was much more pleasurable. Though, there is still an argument to be made for handheld, having the gimbal when stationary is a game changer.

  2. Great bird photography, especially the ones in flight, although my favourite has to be the sweet robin 🙂
